The VetCell Plus Promise

If a horse, treated under the VetCell Plus Promise programme and having completed VetCell's prescribed rehabilitation regime, re-injures the treated tendon within two years, VetCell will refund the original treatment or provide new stem cells for re-implantation free of charge.

The VetCell Plus Promise builds on the ten year track record of StemRegen, VetCell's pioneering stem cell treatment for lesions of the Superficial Digital Flexor Tendon (SDFT). Recent research by Professor Roger Smith of the Royal Veterinary College has shown that the re-injury rate of horses returning to full work after StemRegen therapy and the prescribed rehabilitation regime is cut by half compared to traditional methods.

With this further proof of the efficacy of the StemRegen therapy, VetCell can now offer the VetCell Plus Promise that once a horse has successfully gone through the VetCell Plus programme, a re-injury of the same tendon will be treated free of charge.

The VetCell Plus Promise

If, within two years of successfully completing the VetCell Plus programme, a horse re-injures the treated contra-lateral Superficial Digital Flexor Tendon (SDFT), VetCell will provide sufficient stem cells from the cryopreserved stock to re-treat that tendon. Thereafter the Promise will be considered to be discharged.

Availability of the VetCell Plus Promise:

• The VetCell Plus Promise is only available from vets approved by VetCell to provide the service.
• The VetCell Plus Promise only applies to SDFT injuries, assessed by the approved vet as suitable for treatment.
• The VetCell Plus Promise only applies to horses where bone marrow aspiration has taken place within two months of the initial injury.
• The VetCell Plus Promise only applies to horses which have correctly followed the VetCell Plus post-implantation rehabilitation programme, which requires that a horse does not return to full work within twelve months and receives a three monthly ultra-sound scan by the approved vet in order to agree an increase in the exercise regime. • The VetCell Plus Promise only applies to horses aged five years or more as the data for younger horses is insufficient.
• The VetCell Plus Promise is not available to horses with re-injured tendons i.e. the Promise can only be taken out on the first injury to that tendon.
